The Key to Knowing Who You Are: Getting Back to You Part 1   0:51 Do You Know Who God Is? 10:50 How to Better Understand Who God Is with Kristi McLelland 37:10 One Important Thing You Need to Know About God Resources Christy's New Devotional - Living True: 40 Days to Get Back to YouGet back to you with my brand-new devotional, Living True: 40 Days to Get Back to You, that will help you break through the busyness of life and build the confidence you need to embrace the person you want to be. Email us at hello@christywright.com to let us know what you think of the show.   It can be easy to get so caught up in the day-to-day busyness of our lives that we forget who we really are. Today, we're going to be talking about how to get back to you. Then, I get to sit down with my good friend (and amazing Bible teacher) Kristi McLelland. Kristi has impacted my life in more ways than I can count. I just know you'll love her. I want to end the show with a few questions to help you get to know God even better.   Do You Know Who God Is? It's so easy to get wrapped up in the busyness of life, isn't it? You change the diapers, get the snacks, prep the lunches, and try to make it to the meetings. Then one day you stop, look up, and realize you've lost your spark or the thing that makes you you. If you want to get back to you, you need to know four things: Who God is Who you are Where you are Where you're going If you know these four things, and if you can reset and refocus, you can get back to you and the truth of who you are and who you were created to be. When you try to figure out who you are without having an accurate picture of God, it's like looking in a blurry mirror-you can't see yourself, and you can't see what you're doing now. You can never get back to you until you understand the one who created you.   How to Better Understand Who God Is with Kristi McLelland Y'all, I'm so excited about today's interview with Kristi McLelland. Kristi is a brilliant Bible teacher and loves to serve as the bridge between the Western world and the lands of the Bible. Kristi and I dive into the topic of who God is. We talk about: Asking yourself a specific question every time you read the Bible Posturing yourself to receive Believing that God is a Father who runs after you Meeting God in desert places   One Important Thing You Need to Know About God "I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty." 2 Corinthians 6:18 (NIV) This verse is such an amazing reminder that God isn't this distant, critical, unkind God in heaven. He's a dad. He's your dad. He loves you like a father loves a child. And regardless of what your relationship is like with your earthly father, your father in heaven is so far beyond anything you could ever imagine. I want you to sit with these questions as you journal and pray about this and consider what it means for you: What's your relationship like with your earthly father? How has that helped or hindered your relationship with your Heavenly Father? What does God tell you about himself in His Word?

How to Start Your Personal Growth   0:49 Why It's Okay to Be Bad at Something 10:37 The Best Thing to Invest In 18:37 Are You Growing? Resources Business Boutique ConferenceThe Business Boutique Conference is right around the corner. Get your in-person or livestream ticket before it's too late! https://bit.ly/37037Cj We want to hear your feedback about The Christy Wright Show! Email us at hello@christywright.com to let us know what you think of the show.   What keeps you from investing in yourself? What keeps you from growing? All of us have challenges in our lives. But if we don't understand how to overcome these challenges, we're never going to grow. Today, we're talking about how to grow as a person and a leader. Then, I'm going to unpack an article on why you should invest in yourself. And finally, we'll spend some time journaling about the areas in your life you need to grow.   Why It's Okay to Be Bad at Something In order to grow, we have to get outside of our comfort zones. We have to be willing to invest in ourselves and learn something brand new. One of my favorite ways to grow and become better is by surrounding myself with people who are better at things than I am. I love to seek out people who are really good in certain areas of their lives that I want to be good at and ask them to hang out. Yes, it's humbling-but that's where growth happens. If you want to be better in any area of your life, you've got to be willing to be the small fish in the big pond. You've got to be willing to get outside your box and your comfort zone and invest in yourself to learn something new.   The Best Thing to Invest In I want to spend a few minutes unpacking an article I saw recently on Forbes.com called Why You Should Invest in Yourself by Amy Modglin. This article is a great reminder that the things we struggle with are actually really common to most of us. But if we don't understand how to overcome these challenges and barriers, we're never actually going to grow. In the article, Amy shared about a lack of confidence she had and the fear that kept her from investing in herself. She said that all changed when her friend and mentor, John Maxwell, said, "Growth doesn't just happen." Amy's biggest barrier was being afraid she wasn't worth it. She wasn't investing in herself. The same thing is true for you and me. You're not going to get to somewhere new by doing the same thing you're doing today. You have to do something different. You have to invest in yourself. Remember: You get to have a say in who you become, but you've got to do something about it. You can't just sit on the sidelines. You have to take the reins. You have to get in the game. You have to read a book, get a coach, go to a conference. You have to do something. You are worth it.   Are You Growing? Today, I want you to spend some time reading Ephesians 4:1-16. This passage is saying just grow to grow. Not to be better than others. Not to be impressive. Grow so that you're not tossed back and forth. Grow so that you have a solid foundation. Grow to become more and more like the God who created you. Grow to become more like Christ. I want to give you a few questions to consider as you journal, as you pray about this, and as you think about what this means for you in your faith walk. How do you grow? How have you matured in the last year? How are you growing in love?

Email us at hello@christywright.com to let us know what you think of the show.   We all have feelings. And I have a lot of them. In fact, I have so many feelings, my feelings have feelings. Today, we're going to talk about-yep, you guessed it-feelings and the appropriate (and important) role they have in our lives. Chip Dodd, bestselling author of The Voice of the Heart and other brilliant books, joins us to talk about feelings, vulnerability and the responsibility we all have to own them. Then, we'll pull out our journals as we process our emotions and feelings.   How to Understand Your Feelings Whenever we face an issue or problem, it's easy to try to fix the issue at the surface level. But what's interesting is that often times, what's on the surface of the issue isn't even the problem itself. No matter what the problem is, there's always a root. But you have to be willing to uncover it layer by layer by layer. And if you can get to that deeper layer-if you link it to the root of what's really going on-you can solve it. It's there that you can find healing, deeper communication, intimacy and connection. The question you need to be asking yourself and others is simple: Why? And then keep repeating it until you get to the root. You'll sound a little like a broken record, but you know what? It works. Keep asking why. It's going to bring you to the core of what's going on inside you. It's an effective coaching technique, but it also helps you become self-aware and build closer relationships with every single person around you.   What Most People Don't Realize About Their Feelings with Chip Dodd Chip Dodd, author of the amazing book The Voice of the Heart, is here with me today to talk about the import role of feelings in our lives.   Chip and I talk about: The feelings God has given to us to live fully between the areas of grief and celebration How to be emotionally vulnerable and develop emotional resilience How we can use our feelings as tools to take ownership of our hearts and lives Learning to trust your feelings through identification, exploration and expression   What Emotions Are You Feeling Right Now? "Jesus wept." - John 11:35 (NIV) I don't know about you, but to me, it's so moving to consider that Jesus had feelings. Jesus wasn't an emotional iceberg. He had feelings, highs and lows, emotions and pulls. Just before that verse, it says Jesus "was deeply moved in spirit and troubled" (John 11:33, NIV). And then He wept. I want share that with you today as an encouragement that you're not alone. So, I've got some journal questions for you as you process your own emotions and feelings right where you are. How does it feel to consider that Jesus had emotions and feelings just like you? What emotions are you feeling right now? Why do you feel that way? And after you write down that answer, ask again-why? I want you to continue asking yourself why until you get to the deepest root layer of what's really going on inside.

Email us at hello@christywright.com to let us know what you think of the show.   The reality of running a business is that you're going to run into things you just don't know how to do. So, today, we're talking about building confidence. No matter how much we talk about confidence, we always have more to learn. I also get to sit down with Academy member Sarah Lewis to talk about how she can build her confidence in business. Finally, we'll take some time to journal and reflect.   What Confidence Actually Looks Like The idea of confidence can be so hard to grasp. Why is that? I've been reflecting on this recently, and here's what I've found: Confidence looks like courage, sounds like leadership, and feels like peace. Confident people seem like they have it all together. But you know what? They don't have it all figured out, but they do have courage. They're willing to put themselves out there, willing to fail, and willing to do it scared. Your confidence doesn't have to come from your situation or your circumstances. It doesn't even have to come from you. The true source of confidence is in the God that created you to begin with, and that feels like peace.   How to Be a More Confident Business Owner My good friend and Academy member Sarah Lewis is joining me in the studio today to talk about growing confidence as a business owner. So often, we buy into the lie that we need to be good at everything to be confident, especially in our businesses. But the truth is that you can't be good at everything. You're not going to be good at every single thing, and you're not going to do it all perfectly. I hope you're encouraged by our conversation and inspired to find confidence in the things you're good at too.   What Does Confidence Mean to You? So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. - Hebrews 10:35-36 (NIV) Confidence doesn't come from our circumstances. True confidence comes from who we are in God. And when we remember that, we have every reason in the world to be confident, to be at peace, to have courage, to be bold, to feel secure, and to be comfortable in our own skin. I hope you take some time today to journal and work through these questions: In what areas of your life are you most confident now? What habits help you build your confidence? What Scriptures help you feel confident? What Bible verses do you cling to? What is confidence to you? Define it.
