We're always chasing impossible standards for the perfect body, business, spouse, kids and family. Today, we're going to talk about how to let go of the pressure to be perfect and embrace our missteps and mistakes. It's time to move past the fear of imperfection and live an authentic life.   3 Ways to Let Go of the Pressure to Be Perfect Today, we're talking about how to let go of the pressure to be perfect. I don't know about you, but I feel this pressure on an almost daily basis. We're always chasing some perceived idea of the perfect body, the perfect mom, the perfect house, or the perfect job. But when we choose to let go of our own impossibly high standards and stop focusing on our weaknesses, we can actually live an authentic life. We'll unpack three main ways to let go of perfection: Focus on what's right. Laugh about what's wrong. Redefine "good."   The Importance of Being Original with GiGi Butler "Life isn't about being perfect: It's about being original." These powerful words are from my friend Gigi Butler, entrepreneur and founder of GiGi's Cupcakes. Gigi and I talk about how waiting to make a move until everything is perfect will leave you stuck. Because first of all, perfection doesn't exist. And more importantly, God did not create you to be average or to try to pattern your life after someone else's version of perfect. He created you for a unique purpose that only you can accomplish.   Are You Under a Lot of Pressure? "Since this is the kind of life we have chosen, the life of the Spirit, let us make sure that we do not just hold it as an idea in our heads or a sentiment in our hearts, but work out its implications in every detail of our lives. That means we will not compare ourselves with each other as if one of us were better and another worse. We have far more interesting things to do with our lives. Each of us is an original." - Galatians 5:25-26 (The Message) I love this passage of Scripture because it reminds us that God has big plans for each one of us. We can choose to spend our lives missing out by constantly comparing ourselves to someone else's version of success. But as this verse reminds us, "We have far more interesting things to do with our lives." Here are a few journal questions to help you think and pray through today's teaching on perfection: What's going right in your life right now? What's good? What's going wrong that you can laugh about? How can you redefine "good"?
